85. Northern Protea

Who would believe ………. Protea Cynaroides growing outdoors in North West England. I have had them for two years now and this is the largest flower I have had so far. They are beautiful.

Adding to the South Africa / Australasia mid summer vibe in the garden at the moment are the Callistemon Bottle Brushes (from Australia) and the Leptospermum Tea Tree plant (from New Zealand). Both in flower and adding some very welcome colour to the garden.

I grow these plants outside in air-pots with horticultural fleece to protect them in the winter months. They have flowered reliably every year - so far so good.
