Summer Term 5. A Summer Wreath

An wreath arrangement using daisies and summer flowers.

Equipment: a wreath oasis, a wide flat container to hold it on.

Flowers and Foliage: A collection of wild flowers: a bunch of white chrysanthemums, dill flowers, white ??????, seed heads. I have added some white hydrangea buds. The foliage is hydrangea and scented geranium leaves.

Step 1: Wet the oasis.

Step 2: Seed heads and delicate / wispy flowers: start adding these to create a cloud of wild flowers around the wreath. Make sure you cover the sides as well as the top.

Step 3: Foliage : use some foliage to cover the larger gaps of oasis. Not too much foliage, it shouldn’t overpower the flowers.

Step 4: Flowers: Add the statement flowers, the daisies (chrysanthemums), the hydrangea heads. The aim is to get a wild, haphazard look rather than symmetry or patterns. Add as many of these as you can without losing the “wild” look. The wildness is what makes it look natural.

Step 5: Moss: use the Spanish moss to hide any exposed areas of oasis.

And that is it. One of my favourite designs. The green and white work really well together and make such a fresh arrangement.
