Equipment: a flat container ideally boat shaped, small piece of oasis, a frog and sticker to secure the frog to the container. German clips.

Flowers and Foliage: an interesting shaped twig, a single dramatic flower type - 6 stems, large foliage to complement the flowers. Trisha used beautiful white / green anthuriums with their own leaves. You will need an interesting shaped twig and some dried Spanish moss to disguise the oasis.

Step 1: Attach the oasis / frog / sticker to the centre of the container.

Step 2: Position the twig lengthwise across the oasis and attach it to the oasis using a German clip.

Step 3: Foliage : add the foliage (4-6 leaves max) to establish the design of the arrangement. It should be laid as flat as possible to hide the oasis.

Step 4: Flowers: use two long stems for each end of the arrangement. This will define the width of it. Place the other 4 flowers as flat as possible using different lengths stems to create interest and focal points. The overall affect should be flat and stylish, not fussy.

Step 5: Moss: use the Spanish moss to hide any exposed areas of oasis.

And that is it. Simple but very stylish. Choose flowers that have impact and use a single colour scheme that works well with the green leaves.

I improvised a bit for mine. The container was square - something I made in pottery classes many years ago. There were two types of flowers in whites / pale pinks (the orchids) and faded red (the anthuriums) - these are flowers I had growing at home. And the anthurium leaves worked well with these.

I love the overall effect of this one, and it has lasted for weeks as long as I keep the oasis wet.
