80. Cordon Fruit Trees

The cordon fruit trees are finally fruiting. It is Year 3 after planting them, and for the first time I will be getting my first “crop”. Not a large one, admittedly, but nonetheless it is a crop: apples, pears, plums, damsons, cherries and figs.

I will need to cover the fruit trees with netting before the birds discover them. The easiest way is to attach the netting to the top supporting wire using washing pegs, and to pin the net down at ground level using tent pegs. Hopefully that should keep the fruit out of the birds’ reach.
